New Moon in Aries / Full Moon in Scorpio

The New Moon this month falls in Aries on April 5.  This is the first New Moon of the Spring season.  The archetype of the New Moon is to plant seeds of intention and put them into action.  On a seasonal basis, Spring is the time for planting our seeds of intention for the upcoming year.  With this double emphasis on new beginnings, it is an excellent time to start important new projects.

Aries is the most masculine sign of the zodiac and Mars, it planetary ruler, is the archetype of the warrior.  It takes courage, drive, initiative, and action to truly engage life and be fulfilled.  Your personal willpower is energized to take on life’s challenges.  In a very profound manner, we discover who we are through what we do.  Now is the time to go for it.

The Sun/Moon conjunction falls in Aries 16 degrees and the keyword for this decanate is Exaltation.  This keyword describes a significantly elevated sense of being and self that is realized through a genuine sense of accomplishment.  Aries is dedicated to self-discovery through the path of action.  The results of our actions should manifest as tangible achievements from which we should derive fulfillment and an authentication of self.  We should feel good about what we do.

At this New Moon, Mars and Jupiter are opposed to each other and squaring the Sun/Moon conjunction.  The resultant T-cross manifests as tension and conflict and the tendency towards over-optimism and extreme behavior.  Keep your balance and don’t over-react to stressful situations.  The Sun/Moon conjunction is in sextile aspect to a Neptune/Dragon’s Head conjunction that supports personal growth, idealism, and letting go of fear-based actions.  Mars, the ruler of the chart, is also in trine aspect to Uranus.  This supports innovative approaches and solutions to problems.

The Full Moon falls in Scorpio on April 20.  The Scorpio/Taurus polarity is emphasized with a Sun/Mercury conjunction in Taurus and the Moon in Scorpio.  This powerful polarity has a theme of unfolding our inner power of soul and applying it to create wealth and abundance in our lives.  There is an inner/outer and spiritual/material tug-of-war going on that encourages us to find a correct balance in our life values.  There is a conflict between our desire nature and our material wants and needs. 

This month we have that unique occurrence which is described as “once in a blue moon.”  This saying applies to the situation when the Full Moon falls in the same sign of the zodiac in a one month period of time.   This is the first of two sequential Full Moons in Scorpio.  The theme of balancing spiritual and material values is powerfully presented to us.  It is important to understand why financial and economic difficulties are increasing rapidly.  Our society is deeply out of balance on the side of materialism.  A correction is taking place.

The Full Moon falls in Scorpio 0 degrees and the keyword is Resourcefulness.  This decanate demands that we turn within and dig deep within for the hidden powers of the soul.  It wants us to actualize our latent potential in order to effectively deal with the challenges that we face.  There is a strong emphasis on personal growth and evolution of consciousness in order to be successful.  Your inner resources are emphasized now.

The Moon’s opposition to the Sun/Mercury conjunction is amplified by Jupiter and Mars also being in opposition and in square aspect to Sun/Mercury/Moon.  This planetary configuration forms a grand cross, which is very stressful.  Anger, frustration, conflict, and extreme behavior are likely manifestations of this event.  

The good news is that there is also an earth grand trine/kite formed which includes the Sun, Mercury, Pluto, Saturn, Moon, Neptune, and Dragon’s Head.  This manifests as an underlying strength and stability which supports positive change.  If we all do our part we can improve our quality of life both individually and collectively.  Enjoy!
